Q Do you consider yourself a typical model?
Yang I won’t say I’m a conventional model because I have a lot of interests and hobbies that are not fashion-related. However, it doesn’t come in between me and being a part of the industry. The modelling industry is ever-evolving. When nothing stays constant, more and more companies are looking for one-of-a-kind individuals to represent their brands, regardless of their past and occupation.
Q Are you a social media addict? Do you think it has shaped part of your identity?
Yang I am trying to be less reliant on social media, even though no one can stay entirely off it these days. That’s why I like to utilise it as a tool to advocate my beliefs and share my perspective on subjects such as mental health and the environment.
Q What would your dream job be if you weren’t a model?
Yang My biggest passion has always been in music production, so I’m planning to release some tracks I’ve made. I’ve also heard of a job called “Guardian of the island” – meaning you’d have to maintain and protect the ecosystem of a deserted island while living there – which sounds like the ultimate dream job to me.

Q Summer is right around the corner.
What does your dream holiday look like?
Yang I like hiking, exploring the rainforests, and swimming in the sea. I’m currently planning a trip to Mauritius.
